The Dyson Animal is one of the more popular models carried by the Dyson vacuum cleaner company.  Getting this model, as well as the other models currently carried by the line, has not been a slow and mindless process.  In fact, the founder and designer of the original vacuum cleaner to be offered by the company, James Dyson, spent a great deal of time and effort in the development of its design.  The end result was a vacuum that far surpassed any other cleaners available on the market.  So much so that the vacuum juggernaut at the time, Hoover, had even considered purchasing the patent.

A One Man Business

When James Dyson first developed his new vacuum cleaner, he initially tried to get many of the biggest manufacturers of the time to license his product.  Every door he knocked on, however, was kept closed as no one was willing to take on his new vacuum cleaner.  As a result, Dyson decided to not only design his own vacuum, but to manufacture and advertise it as well.  It was only revealed later that Hoover had considered purchasing the patent – but only because they wanted to prevent Dyson’s new technology from getting into the market.

In 1983, Dyson introduced his first vacuum cleaner, the G-Force, to the world.  It ultimately won the Japan International Design Fair prize in 1991. As a result of this achievement, the Japanese licensed the Dyson vacuum and sold it in their market.

A New Company is Created

With the help of the money he earned from his license in Japan, Dyson was able to establish his own company in Wilshire England.  Here, he set up a research center to help him in the development of new ideas as well as a factory where the vacuum cleaners could be created.  His new company opened its doors in June of 1993 and he soon introduced his first vacuum cleaner, the DC01.

Dyson took his research quite seriously in order to create new designs that he knew would be embraced by the public.  As part of his research, for example, he went straight to the people and asked specific questions to help guide his design.  He did not, however, always follow the feedback he received.  For example, he had once asked consumers if they would prefer to have a transparent container to hold the dust collected by the vacuum.  Most of the people surveyed said they would not, but Dyson decided to go that route anyway in order to help him better advertise the effectiveness of his product and to show the centrifugal particle separation technology used with his product.

It didn’t take long before Dyson took note of the troubles pet owners were having with keeping their homes free of pet hair.  As a result, he began working on a new vacuum design that would be more effective at removing pet hair thoroughly.  As a result, the Dyson Animal was born.  Today, the Dyson Animal design is available with all of the vacuum models offered by the company and is one of the more popular choices of vacuum for people in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
