You have to be kiding me! That is a 20+ year old Kirby that was being used. I would like to see the same test with a new Kirby. Dyson is a over priced Phatom! A fad that is will fade way just like many other before.

This is just a video of how much YOU like the Dyson! You vacuumed for 30 seconds with the Kirby and DID NOT show us what the kirby picked up. You vacuumed for 40 seconds with the Dyson, sang its praises while vaccuming, then videod dumping the filter. Why didn’t you show us what came out of the Kirby bag? The Kirby probably had twice as much stuff in it! Not a true comparison.

The demo was impressive. I think that the nay sayers of Kirby should realize as time goes on technology gets better. During Kirby’s prime it was the best on the market. Hello, Dyson! You just won me over.

Dude, You didn’t even use the Kirby right. Your biggest flaw is that you lowered the kirby till it made the low hum (which means the brushes are touching the floor) and then you raised it back up. So, it wasn’t even being used at peak efficiency.

First off, That particular kirby is one of the oldest models made from the long line of Kirby’s, I dare you to do compare tests with the newest “Sentria” model. also, you failed to show how much pet hair the kirby actually picked up,Your Dyson only picks up the “surface dirt” causing consumers to think that it is doing a great job when in all reality it isn’t. SECOND, you set the 7 level carpet adjustment on the kirby one higher than what it is supposed to be(one more click down after you hear the humm of the carpet is correct, if you notice he origionally sets it at that then clicks it one higher) sneaky guy….anyways, For anyone who is looking to buy a quality vaccum and cannot decide between kirby and dyson, or even if you think so highly of the dyson, please go check this out. http://www.greatvacs.com/KirbyDysonReview.shtml
Honestly tho, I love how he didn’t show what the kirby picked up, classic, I would bet money that even the oldest model of kirby would beat out the newest model of dyson.
Hopefully someone find’s this post helpful, and if you still doubt, PLEASE copy paste that link and you can see a variety of tests that the dyson only won 2 out of 8, and those had nothing to do with cleaning power
Thanks,
Josh

We have owned a Kirby Heritage II for years. And to say the least, it has been a discouragement to use it as much as I probably should have — it doesn’t do a good cleaning job even when the bag is new. I have asthma, and breathing the dust it leaks when I would vacuum with it…. would leave me feeling poorly the rest of the day, sometimes I’d have an asthma attack which would last for days afterwards.
We have a Siberian Husky. He is incredibly sweet and intelligent or putting up with his shedding problem would end him up at the pound. We adopted him from there, probably from people who grew tired of grooming him and dealing with his shedding problem. Guess we love sled dogs, our previous dog was a Samoyed, a female, who actually shed worse. However, her fur was not as hard to removed when vacuuming with our Kirby. Alas, Husky hair is more like wire and seems to burrow in like a bee stinger, into upholstery and carpeting. I would have rolling hair balls in my kitchen, — okay it was GROSS!
I have had a back problem for years so lugging the heavy Kirby around with its attachments, has not been thrilling. So I recently bought a Shark canister vacuum. I used it first on the upholstery. It has a turbo driven upholstery tool which is like the little brother of the Dyson design. It did plug up, and I had to clean it out, but when I did, it worked great again. And then I decided to try it next on the floor. We only paid $50.00 for this little vac. The first time I used it on our carpeting, I emptied it ten times while doing the house. It is bagless but you can’t get the fine dust out of its little filter (sort of like a car’s air filter in miniature) unless you bang it on the side of the trash can. (Don’t try this indoors!) Not to mention I felt I was spitting dust for a week after I used it.
We are buying a house which we will probably replace the carpeting in the living room. My husband has been in love with the Kirby vacuum cleaner. Not me, I have to use it. I told him when we were shopping for carpet, that there is no reason to buy expensive carpeting when I cannot clean it properly — it will look as bad as what the new house currently has. If a fifty dollar vacuum can outshine a Kirby, if we don’t get a new upright, I won’t buy any carpeting. He got mad at me, said I was rude in the store. But we both have asthma, and seeing what I was able to get out of the carpet we have now with the Shark, I reasoned from seeing your videos about the Dyson on YouTube that I’d get terrific cleaning with a Dyson, better than using the Shark and literally “biting the dust” to do the cleaning. He actually saw my point.
When I used the Dyson the first time, the canister did not need to be dumped but once for the whole house (the little Shark had been doing a good job in picking up the dust and hair). But it was so much faster than using the Shark!!! The cord is long enough to plug it in only twice for my whole house (1800 square feet single story). The Shark, I was plugging and unplugging a lot. The Dyson, I could see, was actually lifting the matting problem we have had with the carpeting. I vacuumed again this morning and got the same quantity of hair, fuzz and fine dust as last night. (I probably still have dog hair from the Samoyed we had had — she died in February of last year, current dog, the Husky we have had about four months.) The best thing was only having to dump the dustbin once and not having any of the dirt get in my face. Contrary to the Oreck commercial, which shows you having to touch the dirt you are vacuuming, you don’t have to touch the dirt if you don’t want to. And there is no dust cloud in your face either. The carpeting head of the Shark is not a powered head, so if you lose suction, your bristles stop spinning in the head, you must stop and clean the vacuum out. This is time consuming. You lose suction with a dirty carpet quickly with the Shark. With the Dyson, there is no loss of suction. Marvelous!!!
So I “feel great” in two sense of the phrase. Sears was having a good sale on the Dyson, so we got a good deal, like the price of reconditioned Dyson Animal, but brand new. Also, because I don’t have the feeling of all that dirt I was inhaling with emptying the Shark, I don’t feel exhausted. Having asthma is tiring like hiking in thin air at high altitudes. So I am very happy indeed. I don’t have to take a breathing treatment or use my inhaler!
Even my hard to convince husband, LOVES THE DYSON!!! He doesn’t even what to keep the Kirby now, he wants to see if he can’t sell it to a private party.
Thank you for making your videos, they really show off the advantages of the Dyson. We saw a lot of clones at Sears of the Dyson design, but copyright infringement would mean if you want genuine Dyson cleaning, you should get a Dyson. Like yourself, I have used many vacuum cleaners. And I did not want to be cheap with my health, because if you don’t have your health, what do you have, really?
Sincerely,
Sally M. Bode

The thing is- its comparing a 10 year old kirby to a 2 year old dyson. compare products made in the same year so we can see matching technology.
i did see the hair down in there
dyson is the top of the line but kirby sucks
